Uh oh

Ok, so not only did the Sabres get pushed around last night, but they still could have won. It just got worse. Patrick Lalime missed pratice this morning, and no one know why. This should be interesting. Personally, it may be a good thing. I don’t see this team hanging on to 8th spot with Lalime in goal.

Also, the Ducks want Paul Gaustad suspended for his hit on Ryan Getzlaf at the end of the game last night. It was a dirty hit, and I could see Goose getting a game or two for it. Maybe he can work on his fighting during his off day.

UPDATE: Lalime woke up last night with Flu like symptoms. He will make the trip to Carolina. If he can’t dress, Jhonas Enroth would make his first career start in the NHL. As far as a backup, who the hell knows?

What a letdown

Jochen Hecht is god awful, and should be the next one to sit in the press box.

Pominville is next in line, but we’ll have to wait until Vanek comes back.
Does anyone want to tell me where these two have disappeared to?

And hereeee we go

Ever hear the phrase, Beef…it’s whats for dinner? Well, folks…Plenty of beef in the line-up tonight. Paul Gaustad and Andrew Peters return for the Sabres in what is probably the biggest game to date.
Coach Lindy Ruff is pulling out the stops, and knows how important this one is. The Flyers come in 3 points ahead of the Sabres, who obviously can close the gap to 1 with a win.

Philly is clearly no shrinking violet by any means. They have big bodies Riley Cote and Aaron Asham who are more than likely to clash with the blue and gold tonight.

Notes:

Miller and Biron square off once again, always a nice subplot to the battle between these two long time rivals.

Patrick Kaleta will be a healthy scratch this evening, and Nathan Gerbe is back in Portland.

Marshawn Lynch Arrested

Criminal Possesion of a firearm.
Sign Fred Jackson, and get ready to draft someone else. I don’t want anymore “Beast Mode” in this city. I never thought he was that good anyway.

Nate is back…Happy trails, Dan Paille

Nathan Gerbe is back today  and Paille is still scratched. This would lead one to believe that he’s now in Lindy’s dog house. I could see him being gone at the deadline.
Nathan Paestch is also still on the 4th line making Andrew Peters a scratch. I was looking forward to Ruutu finally getting drilled tonight, oh well.

I still hate Ottawa and you should too!

If you feel like the hatred in your soul for the Ottawa Senators is subsiding, please watch the following. If you still hate Ottawa like me, please watch the following:

Sure, Ottawa is awful this year. Sure, Chris Neil is out with an injury. There’s still Heatley, Alfredsson, and Ruutu.(who now has nobody to hide behind ;) )

Notes:

Andrew Peters appears to be returning to the Line-up (just in time to seek revenge) along with Dan Paille. Peters will join Ellis and Kaleta. Hecht will center Connolly and Stafford. Roy will center MacArthur and Pominville. Mair will center Paille and Kotalik.

Andrej Sekera says he’s ready to go, but Mike Weber is still practicing with the team. Hank Tallinder is now skating with contact.

Thomas Vanek’s jaw injury is more serious than that of Teppo Numminen’s. Vanek has had his jaw wired shut, and that could extend him to the full four week period.

The Portland Pirates make their Buffalo debut against the Albany River Rats, should be interesting to see. Jhonas Enroth is red hot between the pipes, and will get the nod in goal.

No more TV.

Come on. This is getting crazy. Thomas Vanek is now out for 3-4 weeks with a broken jaw. This will be a huge test to the Sabres who are already missing Paul Gaustad, among defensemen that remain out.

The Sabres also moved to within striking distance of 4th place Montreal.

It is likely that Dan Paille will return to the line-up Wednesday against Ottawa, and Andrew Peters may be seeing more action in the coming weeks.

Jochen Hecht and Jason Pominville continue to struggle. Pominville is scoreless in his last 16 games.

Ryan Miller remains  hot this calendar year, and the Sabres will need that kind of play to move forward.

Goose is cooked, out for weeks.

As of practice this morning, the Buffalo Sabres have lost Paul Gaustad to an “upper body” injury. The rugged forward had been playing especially well the last few weeks. This coming on the heels of the return of Jochen Hecht and Jaro Spacek to the line-up tonight.

Just when you think the Sabres are getting healthy….here we go again.

Leafs are bad, eh?

The Buffalo Sabres are starting to believe that they are a playoff team. With the 5-0 victory over terrible Toronto, the Sabres moved to within just two points of 6th place Philadelphia.

Maple Leafs Sabres Hockey

Thomas Vanek got out of his mini slump by hitting for the hat, while Tim Connolly continued to show that when he’s healthy, the Sabres are a different team.

Ryan Miller had an easy, yet effective night, stopping all 16 shots for his 6th shutout of the year (2nd straight)

As for the Leafs…WOW. They are Scary Bad.  Who knows if Brian Burke can even save them now?

Their goaltender of the future got lit up, Brad May couldn’t even spark the team, and Nik Antropov may be the worst player in the NHL.

But hey, who’s complaining? I’m merely pointing things out. The Leafs could go 0-82 and I would not feel bad for them.

Don’t look now… here come the Buffalo Sabres
