The Sabres have been slow and sloppy the last two games.
Does Kaleta even hit anything but glass anymore? Mair is invisible, Gaustad has been invisible since his return and Miller has been weak. The lineup shake up was a good idea, but the wrong personnel was brought in. Peters should have cracked the lineup in of the two games, Buffalo is lacking toughness this weekend. Boston was able to push the Sabs around last night without repercussion. At least they have a solid core, and a great coaching staff. Don’t worry.

Sabres look Uninterested
MATT ELLIS WAIVED
24 HOUR WAIVERS. IF HE IS NOT CLAIMED, HE WILL BE IN PORTLAND.
Sabres Must Slice Roster
By Friday, someone will be out of the blue and gold. Whether it is for good, or for x amount of games, The Sabres will be over the roster limit by 1 pm. Jochen Hecht will be activated for Friday’s game against Atlanta. One of the following will be gone:
Matt Ellis- The front runner to be the odd man out. He was claimed off waivers before the season from LA. He has had a decent showing in 7 games, mostly noticeable on the penalty kill. He would have to clear waivers to be sent to Portland. LIKELY
Andrew Peters- Peters has been a healthy scratch for only 2 games so far this season. Dressing over Ellis in the first part of the season would lead one to assume he is not at the end of the line. He too would have to be placed on waivers before being sent down. Also, Peters is believed to be one of the most well liked players on the Sabre roster. His value to the team obviously extends past the 5 minutes of ice time he’s been averaging this season. NOT LIKELY
Patrick Kaleta- Scoring his first goal of the year last game does bode well for Kaleta. Chances are he’s here for the duration of the season. He’s a local kid and the fans love that. Not to mention he takes runs at everyone on the ice, hit or miss. The Sabres can’t really afford to lose any grit in their lacking physical line up. NOT LIKELY
Andrej Sekera- Probably the biggest lock to stay on the team. Sekera has shown a ton of maturity during this young season. Pared with Jaro Spacek, Sekera is becoming more and more like a top paring, bona fide defenseman. With 8 assists in 12 games, he is filling in quite nicely for some overpaid, underachieving red head. NOT LIKELY
Nathan Paetsch - Nate always seems to be the odd man out on the back end. Sure, he doesn’t have a strong shot, and no, he won’t play over 25 minutes a game, but Paetsch has always been solid when called upon. Paetsch would also have to pass through waivers, and with Buffalo’s injury history with blue liner’s, he’ll be here ready to step in. NOT LIKELY
Drew Stafford- Drew has size, speed and talent. But, it’s obvious, something isn’t working. Stafford started on the 1st line, and is now down to the 4th. He only has accumulated 3 points all year, including 0 in his last 5 games. The lone bright spot is his shootout success. Drew was slumping last year as well, and spending time in Portland could do him some good. LIKELY
Tim Connolly- Possibly the most intriguing roster option includes “Fragile Fred”. Connolly has come back this season and played a remarkable 2 games, before sitting out a practice due to a sore groin. Connolly is an incredible waste of skills, and does no good sitting in the press box. It could be an option to put him on injured reserve, and put out a healthy, hungry line-up for the next month or so. NOT LIKELY
Tiny Tim misses practice
Tim Connolly missed the morning skate today.
Jochen Hecht is back.
Lines are as follows:
26-9-12
41-55-29
61-22-21
20-28-36
76-37
Rivet is Back!
Out of nowhere, to play tonight.
The lineup up front is the same. Paetsch, Ellis, Peters are the scratches.
Peters pwns Neil
Disgusted by the latest Bills effort, I figured i’d give you the week in review with fights. When I was thinking of where to start, I realized that the last 5 games have been full of hugging matches. However, there was one solid scrap, and that’ll do.
Chris Neil (6 ft 1 in, 215 lbs) vs. Andrew Peters (6 ft 4 in, 242 lbs)
Patrick Kaleta makes a hit, and is confronted by Jason Smith. Andrew Peters (as usual) takes exception to that, and goes after Smith. Peters is then intercepted by Chris Neil and they being to grapple along the boards. Neil tries to rip Peters’ helmet off and Andrew has had enough. They drop the gloves and make their way out of the pile.
Peters gets his right free and throws one that grazes Neil. Neil throws back and misses. Peters counters with a big right that sends Neil off balance. He then sends four more rights at Neil, hitting with two. Neil gets a right in. They grapple for a while, and Peters manages to get the jersey over Neil’s head. Peters throws a left and they fall to the ice.
Better/More punches: Peters
Winner: Andrew Peters (decisive)
Bringing the total after 10 games to:
Andrew Peters (2-0-1), Rivet (1-0-0) Mair (0-0-1) Kaleta (0-1-1)
Ugly
Poor QB decisions, no running game, soft defense, bad special teams.

Big Van, Beastmode
Sabres win 5-0. They’re back on track. Vanek is still hella sweet, and Miller had a shutout (believe it or not)
This sets up the big Bills effort tomorrow against the New York Bretts. I can’t wait. Lynch goes over 100 tomorrow, I can feel it.
Let’s Go Bills, BBBBBBBills.
