Vanek may miss tonight

Thomas Vanek skated today, but not for long. Dan Paille will be back for sure, as he skated on the 4th Line with Mair and Kaleta. However, Andrew Peters did not do any extra work after practice, while Max Afinogenov did.

My guess is that Vanek will take the Warm-ups, but that you will see Peters and Max in as to save TV for the two upcoming games.

Tonight’s awful line-up

Well it’s been a week. It has been fun not writing or thinking about the Bills and Sabres. Unfortunately, the wait is over. Maybe the season is as well?
Tonight, Lindy Ruff has put together the following (not so easy on the eyes) line combinations:

Vanek-Roy-Stafford

Gaustad-Hecht-Pominville

Afinogenov-MacArthur-Mancari

Peters-Mair-Kaleta

It was also noted today at practice that Max Afinogenov is angry. When asked if he wants to play somewhere else he said: “No Comment” (yes) That’s good, Max, because I also want you to play somewhere else.

In another tragic turn of events, Henrik Tallinder also returns to the line-up. Dan Paille is sick with the flu, and Drew Stafford is just plain bad.

Go Team.

Edit: It’s MARK.

Not Matt, Mike, Mitchell, Marvin.

IT’S MARK MANCARI. IF YOU CAN’T GET HIS FIRST NAME. YOU OBVIOUSLY SHOULDN’T BE BLOGGING.

UB CLINCHES BIRTH!

They had to do it coming all the way back from a 27-7 defecit. But, in the cold weather, on the road, UB did just that. The final score was 40-34 in Double OT. MAC East champions!

Bulls try to clinch/Sabres try to rebound

The UB Bulls (6-4, 4-2) have what is probably the biggest game in their history today. They travel to Bowling Green for a 6 pm kickoff. With a win, UB would clinch the MAC East division and receive a bowl birth. This would be the schools second only bowl birth, with the first one coming in 1958. Interestingly enough, Buffalo declined that bid when the team was told that they could only participate if they left their two African-American players behind. Buffalo history could be made tonight. (6 PM, TWC Ch. 13)

The Sabres look to get back on track at home tonight, facing off against Philly. Lindy Ruff has had enough of Max Afinogenov and Hank Tallinder. They will both be in the pressbox this evening as healthy scratches. AHL leader, Mark Mancari will get the call to skate on the third line.

The lines are:

Vanek-Hecht-Pominville

MacArthur-Roy-Stafford

Paille-Gaustad-Mancari

Peters-Mair-Kaleta

Rivet-Lydman

Spacek-Sekera

Paetsch-Numminen

Miller

Did anyone really think that douche would make it?

The Bills are fucking awful.

The Sabres aren’t very good.

After a week of personal tragedy, I say this.

Try not to take it so seriously. The lucky ones in life are those with healthy and happy friends and family.

I believe Brad Nowell put it like this: “Life is (too short) so love the one ya got… ’cause you might get run over and you might get shot”

I know this is a blog, but i’m sure everyone else will pick this team apart. Hopefully everyone makes it home from the game safe, it’s getting bad out there.

I will not comment further on this joke of a team. See you on Wednesday for Sabres hockey.

To the Moron Fans

that mockingly cheered Lalime when he made a save: need to realize that rattling someone ON YOUR OWN TEAM does not do anything positive for that team. Those said fans should either

A. Use common sense or B. Don’t come

Also, Columbus has no enforcer. That was evident by the “oh so tough” Jared Boll hiding under one of Ken Hitchcock’s chins. Awesome. It’s pretty pathetic when someone skates to your bench and embarrasses you in front of your boys and you still do nothing.

Tim Connolly, Max Afinogenov, Jochen Hecht, Al Kotalik: apparently didn’t know they had a game tonight.

Bulls charge to first place

naaman

Incredible. The UB Bulls just won a thriller, 43-40. They defeated division leader Akron in the 4th Overtime, and now take over the lead all by themselves.

UB is inching closer and closer to their first Bowl game as a Division 1 program.

The local boys once again put on a show. Falls native James Starks scored 3 times on the ground. ST. Joe’s standout (and personal friend) Naaman Roosevelt continued to show why he is the premier receiver in the conference. Roosevelt caught 9 passes for 111 yards and a Touchdown.

GO UB!

Fireworks, Fisticuffs and Old Friends

It was an interesting contest last night between the Blues and Sabres. The Sabres managed to beat ST. Louis for the first time in Buffalo since The Aud was around. Jason Pominville, Adam Mair, Henrik Tallinder and Tim Connolly (who is once again injured for probably 50 games) all scored for Buffalo.

There were also two fights, as Big Andrew Peters continued his solid season. A mutual agreement led to a battle with David Koci (6 ft 7 in, 240 lbs) on their first shift of the night. Koci is a monster, and had a rare size advantage on Peters. Koci landed a couple more shots, but Peters held his own (Edge Koci). It obviously sent some positive vibes to the Sabres, as they went on to score 3 goals right after.

Blues Sabres Hockey

With the Sabres ahead 3-1, Peters took offense to a hit on Teppo Numminen and went after tough guy Cam Janssen ( 6 ft 1 in, 218 lbs) Peters had more control in this fight. He landed a couple solid rights, and was gassed at the end of this scrap. (Edge Peters) Andrew’s record improves to 2-1-2 in fights this year. He now leads the team with 43 Penalty Minutes.Blues Sabres Hockey

Old friend Jay McKee made his return to Buffalo. He was definitely a huge force on the blue line for many years here. Typical Jay last night, blocking shots and delivering hits. It was nice to see. He has declined since leaving a couple years ago, but he will always be a Sabre to many of us.

26-9-12
55-19-29

The Bills make me wanna puke.

I’ve had it. Another awesome Buffalo sports weekend. The Bills are also awesome, but only when they play fruit basket teams.

This football team is going nowhere. 0-3 in the division is a recipe for disaster. It was fun to believe that the team was good, but Buffalo once again pulled the wool over our collective eyes. Another charade from another mediocre team.

Call me a Bandwagoner, you’re just naive. I’ve been on this run around for the last 10 years. Poor coaching once again shows up early in the game. Challenging apparently is too much of a challenge for the staff. Trent holds on to the ball too long sometimes, and had some awful throws. The defense is soft as usual, and can’t stop anyone on third down.

There’s always next year.
